Book Care

All Angell students are taught book care basics at the beginning of the school year.  Please support your student by finding a safe place to keep library books, reminding your students to handle books with clean hands, keeping library books away from pets and younger siblings and returning library books every week.

Borrowing Privileges by Grade Level

Y5 - 1st - 1 book

2nd - 3rd - up to 2 books

4th - 5th - up to 3 books

Books are due back on your child’s scheduled library day, unless your student requests to renew their books(s) during library class.  Students may check out new books only after their previous books have been returned.

Library Communication

Contact the librarian, Ms. Lauer, via email at lauers@aaps.k12.mi.us.  Please include your name, your student’s name, and their classroom teacher’s name in the email.

Library Class

Each library class is taught by Ms. Lauer, a certified teacher librarian.  Ms. Lauer teaches library usage skills, digital citizenship, keyboarding basics, elementary research skills and a love of reading. Each classroom visits the library at least once a week.

Damaged or Lost Items

Late books are not charged a fine, but the Angell Library policy requires families to pay a replacement fee for damaged or lost books.  Books are considered lost if they are more than two months overdue.  The library accepts exact cash, a check made out to the Angell PTO, or a Venmo Payment.  The PTO’s Venmo account is @angellptotreasurer.  Please put “library book replacement fee for _________________” in the description box.  If you are experiencing financial hardship, contact Ms. Lauer at lauers@aaps.k12.mi.us
